The First To Go Program provides support for First-Generation College Bruins by:

  • empowering them to realize their full academic, professional, and individual potential,
  • developing intentional programs and campus collaborations,
  • fostering community and a sense of belonging,
  • and promoting campus resources to become the hub for First Generation students.

Across UCLA, departments and offices have united to ensure first-generation Bruins thrive. Admissions staff receive specialized training to understand first-gen experiences and provide targeted outreach during recruitment. Alumni relations facilitates mentorship connections between first-gen alumni and current students, creating valuable support networks and promoting a sense of belonging.

Specialized living-learning communities, such as the First To Go residential community, offer environments specifically designed for first-gen student success. Faculty also actively participate by welcoming and engaging students through dedicated receptions and meaningful events.
